Where is the Event and how do I get there?
The event is hosted in a Secret Nuclear Bunker near Ongar in Essex. Being an Ex Goverment bunker it is tucked away out of sight. The postcode CM15 0LA (for sat-navs) should get you there, if in doubt call the mobile number or landline provided in your confirmation email. There will be brown tourist signs, when you get within a few miles, these will lead you in.
The venue is best reached by car, but transport services are available from local stations should you need them.
£120 for only 2 hours?!
Your 2 hour time slot is the total time we allow for you to be on site, it is not the total time for the experience. The experience can last anything between 60-90+ minutes. This will depend on your actions and the speed your group moves through the experience. Smaller groups will be quicker, but will have a more exclusive experience.
We are unlike any other Zombie experience in the UK. We use LIVE blank rounds and the whole event is completely immersive. The costs we have to cover to be in a functioning nuclear bunker, firing blank guns is huge. We will not break character at any point, and there will be no down time, or ‘rest’ areas. If you are early, we aren’t going to break character! Once you drive through our front gates, be prepared. You will be need to be on your guard for the entire time you are at the location. After the experience you can have some photos taken, and buy some ‘supplies’ for your journey home!
How will I fight the zombies
Each member group will be armed with Blank Firing guns at some point in the experience. These are REAL GUNS, with solid barrels so no flash or projectiles can exit out of the barrel. They use gunpowder and act exactly like a real gun, the slide comes back, the spent shell is ejected and a new round loaded. They are VERY dangerous, but training will be given on how to handle and fire them.
How will I the zombies know they are dead?
All of or zombies will be looking at where the you are shooting, if you fire at the ceiling, they will keep coming. Aiming and firing for a leg hit and an chest hit, they will react accordingly. You may need more than 1 bullet to finish them off!
Can I be killed?
The zombies will get very close to you, but we will hope you take them down before they can kill you. Your teammates are going to have to look our for eachother. If you are caught by an infected, you will not be ‘out’ but you may be taken away by a soldier for a shot of the anti-virus. Highly experimental and only 5% effective. In Rats. Just don’t get infected.
How many people can take part?
Each group will have 6 – 8 people. You are the last survivors after all, there are not too many people left. If you would like a larger group for a party / stag etc please contact us and we can try to accommodate you!
The group can always be split up into separate runs through the bunker.
Can I just turn up without booking?
No. You will need to pre book. People without a booking will be turned away. If you would like to check for spaces on the day, please send an email and we may be able to squeeze you in if we have any spaces. All you will need is your name and email address on the day.
I’m under 16, but I really want to come!
The event is over 18′s only. We do run under 18 events, but these will be separate and run on different days. The experience does contains adult content including violence, horror scenes and colorful language. The weapons are extremely dangerous and must be treated with respect at all times.
Do you take group bookings?
Yes – we can take group bookings up to a maximum of 6. There is a group discount booking available, please contact us at booking@thelastsurvivors.co.uk or here to enquire.
Can I come in costume?
Of course, but please be sensible about it, its pretty cold down in the bunker. Please wear sensible footwear.
Can I store my valuables there?
Any valuables are YOUR responsibility. We do not have lockers or anywhere to store your belongings. The carpark is a public car park so any items left in the cars are done so at your own risk.
How long will it last?
The group may be split up onto different pathways, but everyone should finish together (that being if you all make it). The total run time will last around 2 hours. You will spend time inside the bunker, in out-buildings and in the grounds of the bunker.
When does the event run?
The Last Survivors is available on selected weeknights and selected weekends throughout the year. If you would like to book a specific date, please contact us at booking@thelastsurvivors.co.uk or here
What time does it start and finish?
All sessions run in the evening. Please look on the booking page for more information.
Are there any extra costs on the day?
All you need is yourself, and possibly a change of underwear (not sold in our shop) If you would like to buy any t-shirts or merchandise they are available. This is optional obviously!
What will actually happen on the day?
Well we wouldn’t want to give too much away! You will arrive, then you will be handed over to the military who will then have full control of your safety. You will be given a de-brief about how you survived amongst the ‘infected’. You will be instructed on how to use our weapons. Then we are sure the resident doctor will want to check you aren’t carrying the infection. You will then be led into the bunker where you will live out your remaining days happy and safe. Unless something goes wrong of course.
Can I bring my own weapons?
NO! We have plenty of weapons. You can come in costume as long as it is sensible and related to the experience, but NO fake or REAL weapons that do not belong to us are permitted at any time. Also keep your fists to yourself, no punching or pushing our actors, this will be taken very seriously.
What should I wear?
Please bring suitable clothing and footwear. If you would like to come in costume, please make sure it is sensible. You should not get too dirty as our soldiers are trained professionals and they are there to protect you. It can get a little cold in the bunker so wrap up warm.
Do I need to be fit? Will I get hurt?
This event is moderately physical so a reasonable level of fitness would be advised. Any medical conditions must be disclosed on your disclaimer form and must be made aware to our team when booking, these will also be relayed to your group leader. The experience involves live action horror, flashing lights, explosions, jumps, scares and gore. The event will be dark and unnerving and is not suitable for anyone with a nervous disposition.
Who can attend?
Everyone over the age of 18 can attend. If you have a child that is under 16 but ‘loves zombies’ we would need to discuss with yourself the possibility of them attending a specific under 16 event and only with your supervision.
Is there somewhere to get food & drink?
Water is available, and rations are running low. If you want to bring your own food and drink this will need to stay in your vehicle, it can be consumed while in your vehicle but we wouldnt advise doing the event of a full stomach!
Can I film / take pictures
The bunker is dark and there are a lot of obstacles to navigate, we do not want you staring into a camera and falling over. Many areas will be too dark to film anyway. If you would like your run filmed, we can offer this to you, but please contact us beforehand to discuss your needs. When the event finishes you can take pictures of your leader, and we will take an official picture for the website.
I want to bring my friends / mum / granny, but they don’t want to do the experience?
We do not have the space for everyone to bring friends to wait for them during the experience. If parents need to wait for children this will be allowed, but you will need to let us know in advance. They will need to remain in the car park during the experience for their own safety.
Cancellation / It is too scary!
If you would like to cancel your booking please let us know by sending us an email at booking@thelastsurvivors.co.uk. We would ask for 5 Days notice to cancel any bookings of 1 to 2 people. We would ask for 10 Days notice to cancel any groups of 3 or over. We will not be able to offer a refund on any cancellations with less than these notice periods.
All cancelled bookings will incur a 3% admin charge. Any bookings cancelled after 30 days of purchase and paid through Paypal will incur an admin charge of 5%.
If you decide the event is too scary and you need to leave, we cannot offer a refund. We will take this as an up-most compliment, and we will offer you a place to sit out, wait for your fellow survivors and have a cup of tea.
I have so many questions you didn’t answer!? And you call this an FAQ?!
